Door safety relates to prevention of door-related accidents. Such accidents take place in various forms, and in a number of locations; ranging from car doors to garage doors.
Contrast door safety with door security.
Severity and Frequency of Accidents
Accidents vary in severity and frequency. According to the National Safety Council in the US, 300,000 injuries are caused by doors every year.
The types of accidents vary from relatively minor cases where doors cause damage to other objects, such as walls, to serious cases resulting in human injury, particularly to fingers. A closing door can exert up to 40 tons per square inch of pressure between the hinges. Because of the number of accidents taking place, there has been a surge in the number of law suits. Thus organisations may be at risk when car doors or doors within buildings are unprotected.
According to the US General Services Administration:
“…It is essential that children’s fingers be protected from being crushed or otherwise injured in the hinge space of a swinging door or gate. There are simple devices available to attach to the hinge side, ensuring that this type of injury does not occur. As the door closes, the hand is pushed out of the opening, away from harm. In addition, young children are vulnerable to injury when they fall against the other (hinged) side of doors and gates, striking projected hinges. Piano hinges are not recommended to alleviate this problem as they tend to sag over time with heavy use. Instead, an inexpensive device fitting over hinges is available on the market and should be used to ensure safety…”
Accident Types and Prevention
Opening
Whenever a door is opened outwards there is a risk that it could strike another person. In many cases this can be avoided by architectural design which favors doors which open inwards into rooms (from the perspective of a common area such as a corridor, the door opens outwards). In cases where this is infeasible it may be possible to avoid an accident by placing windows in the door.[citation needed]
Doorstops
Doorstops are simple devices used to prevent a door from coming into contact with another object (typically a wall). Without the door stop damage might be done to the wall. They may either absorb the force of a moving door, or hold the door in place to prevent unintended motion.
Door guards
The purpose of door guards (also known as hinge guards, anti-finger trapping devices and / or finger guards) is to reduce the number of finger trapping accidents in doors, as doors pose a risk to children especially when closing.
Door guards protect fingers in door hinges by covering the gap that is created by opening doors by covering the hinges of doors with a piece of rubber or plastic that wraps from the door frame to the door.
There are various levels of door protection. Front door protection a front anti-finger trapping device but leaves the rear hinge pin side of the door unprotected. Full door protection uses front and rear anti-finger trapping devices and ensures the hinge side of a door is fully protected. Which level of protection is appropriate should be determined by a risk assessment of the door.
There is also handle-side door protection, which prevents the door from slamming shut on the frame, which can cause injury to fingers/hands.
Glass doors
Glass doors pose the risk of unintentional collision if a person believes the door to be open when it is closed, or is unaware there is a door there at all. This risk may be particularly pronounced with sliding glass doors because they often have large single panes which are hard to see. To prevent injury from glass doors, stickers or other types of warnings are sometimes placed on the glass surface to make it more visible. For instance, in the UK, Regulation 14 of the Workplace (Health and Safety Regulations) 1992 requires the marking of windows and glass doors to make them conspicuous.
Fire
Main article: fire doors
Special purpose fire doors are often employed in buildings to reduce the overall risk of fire, particularly by preventing the spread of fire and smoke. In cases where they are improperly installed, employed, or tampered with, the risk of fire can be increased. Door closers are sometimes used to ensure fire doors remain closed.
An additional risk in a fire is that doors…(and so on) To get More information , you can visit some products about LCD DVD Screen, drywall sanding screen, . The New All-In-One Printer Laserjethp3055 products should be show more here!
Help answer the question about door closer
Can I choose to change to location of my mail box to something closer to my door and off of the street? So I am moving into a a house there is no HOA and I wanted to know the rules/laws encompassing moving my mail box. Right now it sits on the street. I want to put in a mail slot or a box closer to my front door. Do I need to get approval or can I just do it?

I don’t think this is the original, but I can’t seem to find the other version online anywhere…so I don’t know.
Awesome Shite.
The links inside the door are jammed together. If you can, spray some wd-40 in as far as you can to try to loosen it up. If that doesn't work someone will have to take the door panel off and find the bind.
a glass company would have to remove the piece of glass from the door to check to see if it was tempered. there are usually indicators that a trained eye can spot. Tong marks, bugs, etc.
cough cough bull shit cough cough
yes only on the back doors, open the door and look at the back of it on the inside and there will be a slide button or switch and it should be marked child safety lock.
finally i found this song!!! ^_^
my friend’s, friend’s brother was in this band
love the song so much!
no, they are made to be "failsafe" meaning no bypass is possible.
BTW for those of you who care, more adults are killed by doors than children. installing the sensors anywhere other than thier intended location is just plain foolish. while you're at it, go ahead and remove the smoke detectors in your house, after all, it's not on fire right now.
Sorry Nomadd, but sensors at ground level do nothing to prevent you from closing the garage door on your trunk or bumper unless your car is far enough out for the tires to block the beam. Also, the overpressure sensor may not kick in quickly enough to prevent injury, but it will usually prevent death.
Note that the sensors are required by law, but if you don't have kids, no one is likely to complain or even notice.
And to think, most of the safety features are required because of Indiana Jones. :->
I wouldn’t call bullshit at all, my friend dated the sister one of the few drummers that passed through this band.
Put the clip bit on the outer bottom corner of the door, on the side that opens towards you. Then, put the other catch bit on the skirting board so it catches it and stays open. The same sort of place the springy thing is to stop the door banging the wall when opened.
Does that makes sense? I know where it goes, its just trying to explain it thatis hard!!
It says on the website: "Keep doors in an open position"

loveee thisss songg sooo muchh XDDD
Is your son ok?
thats awful!! the garage should pay!!! …
You say the lights were on but you could open all doors!! … did you check this before you set off?
blinking on some models indicates a fault either in one of the sensors, or in the circuits in the opener itself. try moving the sensors about 6 inches apart and see if they quit, if not, then youve got a hardware problem.
I work for a company called Howdens Joinery, we do two types of "lock" if you like for this purpose. One is magnetic and "invisible" and the other is more like a catch type one but for little uns could be a bit finger trapping like but would certainly get the message across that that cupboard shouldn't be messed with! We are however trade only and not open to sell to the general public, but I'm sure you may well know a Joiner who will have a Howdens account or they may even put you in touch with some account holders in your area.
Hope this helps
Thomas.
I repair garage doors for a living. One sensor should say receiving (green) and the other sending(red orange). You should move the receiving sensor around until the green light is solid, and then wiggle it back and forth. If the green light flickers at all you need to align it better. If this does not work check the wiring terminals in the back of your opener to make sure the wires are not loose. If it still does not work you probably have a bad receiving sensor that needs to be replaced.
My friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s friend’s roomate was in the band.
damn this song is pretty addicting
Do you see a Dial on the body of the Door opener, should be a way to adjust the travel. Should also be a sensor, laser type red light pointing at a receptor, make sure they are in line – if the sensor light is broken by an object, the door will go back up-
I love this song so much
Don't all cars come with child safety locks in the back these days?
no you cant open it from the inside
i think the best way to do this is try to take off the door panel and use some pliers to yank on the door actuator so that it'll open, you'll probably end up messing up the panel but better then messing up the door cause you can find another panel from craigslist or from a junk yard for cheap. good luck on your issue
escuse me…….what?
